Activities for KS3 and KS4

The activities below are all suitable for KS3 and/or KS4 pupils as indicated. STEM Challenges also make excellent 'Business & Enterprise Week' or 'Work Related Learning' activities. Dr. Martin is happy to deliver half or full day sessions when pupils are off timetable or work within your normal structured school day (e.g. double lessons). Most activities can also be adapted for shorter after school STEM Club sessions (please enquire).

 

If you are hosting activities for your partner Primary Schools as part of a primary engagement strategy or to facilitate transition you will find a range of suitable activities on the KS2 Activities page. Most of them can be supported by pupil mentors from your school.

Iconic Tower Challenge

Suitable for KS3 and KS4 (group sizes 30 - 48). Can be delivered in half a day and is the appropriate Challenge for back-to-back delivery twice in a day.

Suitable for KS3 and KS4 (group sizes 16 - 64) and incorporates maths at the appropriate level for your pupils.

Suitable for KS3 and KS4 (group sizes 30 - 48). Differs from the Disaster Relief Challenge by incorporating budget.

 

Ideally suited for KS3 (max group size 40) but also appropriate for lower ability KS4 pupils.  Makes a great partner activity with the Giant Tetrahedron.

Suitable for KS3 and KS4 (group sizes 36 - 64 pupils). An extended full day Challenge to accommodate larger group sizes.

 

A classroom or lab based introduction to the different forms of pure carbon which is suitable for KS3 and KS4 pupils (maximum group size 36).

A half day hall based Challenge suitable for KS3 and KS4 (group sizes 30 - 48 pupils).

A classroom and hall based activity for KS3 and KS4 pupils which showcases structural engineering on contrasting scales.
